Ita Fort, Itanagar

Features

Ita fort is important historical monument in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh and it is said that Itanagar has got its after this fort. The fort was built during the period of Ahom Dynasty rulers around 14th to 15th century. The irregular but impressive and unique structure of 16,200 cubic meters brick works is the main feature of the fort. The fort has three gateways on the eastern, western and southern fronts.

Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum, Itanagar

Features

Established in 1980, Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum exhibits the tribal culture and heritage of Arunachal Pradesh. The museum also houses an informative library, which is open for the public. The ground floor of the museum depicts traditional art, musical instruments, religious objects and handicrafts while the first floor has archaeological objects found at Ita Fort, Noksparbat and Malinithan.

Tawang War Memorial

Features

Tawang War Memorial is dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 Indo-China war. The memorial is located in beautiful snow peaks overlooking the imposing Tawang-Chu valley. Also known as Namgyal Chortan, it displays the personal belongings of soliders in the hall and also the names of the soldiers are inscribed on granite plates.
