Tashiding Monastery, Gangtok


Located on the top of a hill, Tashiding monastery is surrounded by a profusion of Prayer flags that flutter in the air. The monastery was originally built by Ngadak Sempa Chempo during 17th century and later extended by Pedi Wangmo during the reign of Chakdor Namgyal.

Important Events & Festivals

The Bhumchu festival is held in the spring and many devotees visit the monastery.

Nearest airport is Bagdogra airport with 140 km. Nearest railway station is Jalpaiguri railway station with 160 km. Gangtok is connected by road transport to other cities.
