The majestic fort of Gwalior is dated back to 8th century and located on hills side overlooking the Gwalior City. The fort witnessed many important historical moments during command of different rulers. The massive outer walls of the fort with superb bastions made strong ramparts. The fort has many palaces among which Gujhari Mahal and Man Mandir Palace built by Raja Man Singh Tomar are most remarkable. Teli ka Mandir temple, Sahastrabahu temple, Jahangir Palace, Shahjahan Palace are other important structures of the fort. Gujari Mahal Archaeological Museum displays the Hindu and Jain sculptures, inscriptions and rare antiques.
Jai Vilas Palace & Museum, Gwalior

Built by Jayajirao Scindia in 1874, Jaivilas Palace built under architecture of Sir Michael Filose. This magnificent palace still remains the royal residence of descendants of Jayajirao Scindia but major portion of the palace is devoted for the museum. The museum has outstanding collection of grand stuffs and royal souvenirs including largest chandeliers, crystal staircase etc.
