Lakkidi, Wayanad


Lakkidi is gateway of Wayanad district and one of highest rainfall in the world. Within three km from Lakkidi, Pookot Lake is the natural fresh water lake and also popular picnic spot in Wayanad. It is also one of the richest biodiversity areas of the western Ghats and some of wild species includes lion tailed macaque, Indian Shag , Little Cormorant, Little Green Heron, Pond Heron and rare birds.

Nearest airport is at Kozhikode (Calicut) with 60 km. Nearest railway station is Kozhikode (Calicut). Regular bus service is available from Kozhikode and other cities.
