Manipur State Museum, Imphal

Features

Manipur State Museum is located near the Imphal Polo ground and display of Manipur's tribal heritage and a collection of portraits of Manipur's former rulers. The museum was inaugurated by the late Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi on 23rd September, 1969. The objects are displayed through various galleries like Ethnology, Archaeology, Natural History, Painting, Jallan, Children's Gallery and an open air gallery.

Mutua Museum, Imphal

Features

Located in Andro village, Mutua Museum is cultural centre where artifacts of tribes of North India region are on display. The rich collection of the museum includes pottery collection, rare coins, rare manuscripts, paintings, basketries, bell metals, jewelleries, wood carving etc. It also has good collection of dolls, musical instruments and potteries.

Sekta Archaeological Living Museum, Imphal

Features

Also known as Sekta Kei, it is important and archaeological site where evidence of the practice of secondary burial was discovered. The site was jointly excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India and the State Archaeologists.
