Tourist Places in Osmanabad

Dharashiv Caves, Osmanabad

Dharashiv Caves are total seven caves dating back to 5th century located in Balaghat Mountains. The caves were taken note of by Archaeological Department and mentioned in the book "Archaeological survey of India" by James Verges.

Naldurg Fort, Osmanabad

Naldurg fort is named after Nalraja who built the fort in medieval architectural style. The unique feature of the fort that it encloses a knoll of basalt rock which juts out into the valley of the small Bori River and with a long fortification wall with many bastions. Another attraction is of Panimahal which offers fantastic view of flowing water of Bori River from top of Panimahal.

Paranda Fort, Osmanabad

Paranda fort is ancient fort built by the Bahamani kings and brilliant specimen of military Architecture and engineering. Paranda is land fort of which structure is intact and noteworthy. Strong fortification by double walls, moat, impervious bastions and powerful cannons makes the fort unbeatable.

Ramling, Yedshi

Yedshi is situated in thick forest of Balaghat range of the Sahyadri. Yedshi is popular for ideal nature spot and Ramling Shiva temple. It is said to be place where Jatayu attacked demon Ravana while kidnapping Sita in Ramayana epic. For reaching the temple, devotee has to go down below with the steps and the main shrine Shivlinga is in the inner chamber.

Yedshi Ramling Ghat Wildlife Sanctuary

Yedshi Ramling Ghat Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the villages of Yedshi, Wadgaon and Bhanasgaon in Kalamb Tehsil. The dry deciduous forest has some of the wildlife types like Chinkara, Hyena, Wolf, Wild bear, Fox, Black duck, Hares and variety of Bird species.

Pilgrimages / Religious Places in Osmanabad

Shri Tulja Bhavani Mandir, Tuljapur

Dedicated to the Mother Goddess Tulja Bhavani, Tuljapur is the one amongst three and half Shakti Peethas (abodes of cosmic powers) and one of the important pilgrimages of Maharashtra state. Being the family deity of the Bhonsale Royal family, Chhatrapati Shivaji visited this temple for Goddess's blessings and also believed that Goddess Bhavani gave him a sword - 'the Bhavani sword'.

Kalyan Swami Maharaj Math, Domgaon, Osmanabad

The Samadhi of Kalyan Swami, favourite discipline of Sant Ramdas Swami is at Domegaon, Paranda and also original copy of Dasbodh, told by Shri Samartha Ramdas and written by Shri Kalyan Swami Maharaj in his own handwriting.

Shri Saint Gora Kumbhar Mandir, Ter (Osmanabad)

Shri Saint Gora Kumbhar Mandir is 14th century temple dedicated to Saint Gora Kumbhar and people coming to Tuljapur/Pandharpur, also visit this temple. The temple was built in memory of Saint Goroba. The square shaped temple is constructed fully with stone and one of such specimen of architecture. The temple also has Sabha Mandap to perform religious & cultural activities.

Mankeshwar Temple

Mankeshwar is a village in Paranda Taluka of Osmanabad district and popular for the temple of Mankesvar. This ancient temple has fine architecture of Hemadpanthi style. The temple is built out of one rock and has beautiful wall carvings. The Shivlinga is below the ground level and have to get down by stairs for darshan. Satavai Devi Mandir is located besides and Goddess Satwai devi is the goddess of destiny known as the sixth-day Goddess. Mankesvar has also the Dargah of Sayyad Hussain Qadri.

Kunthalgiri Jain Temple, Bhoom (50 km from Osmanabad)

Siddha Kshetra of Kunthalgiri is important Jain pilgrimage and Siddha Kshetra (Place of Salvation). As per Jainism, Kunthalgiri is the only sacred place of southern India from where two ascetic saints named Shri Kul Bhushan & Desh Bhushan achieved salvation and went to Moksha. The temple is located on hill has ancient images of foot pairs of Kul Bhushan & Desh Bhushan in the main temple.

Trivikram Temple, Ter

Trivikram Temple is ancient temple and structure similar to Buddha stupa. The temple is dedicated to Trivikrama (form of Lord Vishnu) and also believed that Saint Namdev has delivered Kirtan (Spiritual Lecture) at this temple.

Uttareshwar Temple, Ter

Uttareshwar Temple of Ter is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is in ruined condition. The craftsmanship of temple walls and wooden work are splendid and noted by Archaeological Survey of India. Siddhesvar Temple and Dhrtarastra Nagesvar Templeis also located in Ter village.

Dargah Hazrat Khwaja Shamsuddin Gazi

It is a tomb of Hazrat Khwaja Shamsuddin Gazi who was the preacher of Islam. The Dargah is the most sacred place of Muslim community in Osmanabad.
