Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary, Gangtok

Features

The Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary spread across forest area of 52 sq. km which supports a large variety of birds and butterflies along with a population of leopards, red pandas, civet cats and the Himalayan black bear. The sanctuary is also home to a large number of wild orchids and rhododendrons. Permission is required from the Forest Department for National as well as Foreign Tourists.

Khangchendzonga National Park, Gangtok

Features

Khangchendzonga National Park is named after Khangchendzonga peak which is the third largest peak in the world. The reserve is home to the snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, Tibetan antelope, wild ass, barking deer, musk deer, flying squirrel and the red panda. The park is very popular among trekkers and adventure tourists. A special pass is required for entry to the park. For National Tourist, Inter Line Permit is issued from the Home Department, Government of Sikkim. For Foreign Tourist, if it is a trek to the Zemu Glacier, permit is issued from Ministry of Home, Delhi.

Sikkim Himalayan Zoological Park, Gangtok

Features

Spread over the area of 205 hectares, Himalayan Zoological park is important tourist place especially for wildlife lovers. The park is well maintained by the forest department without disturbing natural habitant of wild animals. The important wildlife species of the park includes red panda, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, large Indian civet, Himalayan palm civet, Tibetan wolf, musk deer etc. At an altitude of 1,780 meters, the Zoological Park also tenders a splendid view of Mt. Khangchendzonga.
