Naggar Castle, Manali

Features

Naggar Castle was built by Raja Sidh Singh around year 1460. Built in mix of Himalayan and European style of architecture, it is master piece of stone and wood structure. The castle is now converted into heritage hotel with art museum and shop for artefacts. The art gallery also exhibits the paintings of the Russian artist Nicholas Roerich.

Norbulingka Tibetian Institute, Dharamshala

Features

Norbulingka is dedicated to handing down tradition and restoring standards by providing training, education and employment for Tibetans. It was founded in 1988 to support an environment in which Tibetan community and family values can flourish. The art studio offer learning opportunities of Tibetan statue making, thangka painting, screen-printing, applique and tailoring, woodcarving, wood painting, papermaking, and wood and metal craft. The centre has different galleries for Thangka Paintings, Sculpture, Applique Thangka and woodwork. The shop section offers paintings, sculptures and antique items.

The 18th century palace was built by Raja Umed Singh in Mughal style of architecture. The main attraction of the palace beautiful wall paintings which are depicted on the life of Lord Krishna. The palace complex houses Himachal Emporium which exhibits traditional Champa crafts for sale.
