Bharat Mata Temple, Varanasi

Features

Dedicated to Bharat Mata (Mother India), the temple built by the Babu Shiv Prasad Gupt and inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in the year 1936. Built in marble, the uniqueness of the temple is that it do not have any statue of God or Goddess, instead it has huge India map denoting Goddess of India.

Durga Temple (Monkey temple), Varanasi

Features

Dedicated to Goddess Durga, the temple was built in north Indian style during 18th century by Bengali Maharani. The shrine of Mata Durga is said to be Swayambhu (self found) and it is believed that Durga Mata protect Varanasi city from ancient times. A decent pond, called as Durga Kund is located on the right side of the temple with watch pillars.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi

Features

Kashi Vishwanath Temple of Varanasi is one of most important pilgrimage of Hindus and it is believed that at once in lifetime a Hindu has to do this pilgrimage. Located on the banks of river Ganga, Vishweshwara Jyotirlinga is one of Twelve Jyotilings located all over India. The present structure of the temple was built Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore in 1780. The structure of the temple consists of gopura on the temple of Lord Vishwanath or Mahadeva, gold dome and the gold spire carrying a flag and a trident.

Ramnagar Fort & Museum, Varanasi

Features

Located on the banks of Ganga river, Ramnagar fort was built with cream coloured chunar sandstone by Kashi Naresh Raja Balwant Singh during 17th century. The fort houses the Veda Vyasa Temple, a museum, and the king's residential complex. The museum of Saraswati Bhawan rare collection of religious manuscripts , American vintage cars, bejewelled sedan chairs, ivory work, medieval costumes, gold and silver brocaded royal Palakis and other important artefacts.

Tulsi Manas Temple, Varanasi

Features

Located near to Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple was built in marble by Banaras family in 1964. Dedicated to Lord Rama, the temple has the shrines of the Ram, Sita, Lakshhman and Hanuman. It is said that the temple is built at the place where Saint Goswami Tulsidas wrote the famous epic, Ramcharitamanasa. The walls of the temple has scenes from great Hindu Epic Ramcharitamanasa.
