Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, one of the oldest in the country, was established as a supplementary to the Napier Museum in the year 1857 by the erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore. With initially opened for recreation purposes, the zoo become conservation centre of wild life over a period of time. The zoo has wide collection of 35 species of animals, 28 species of birds and 17 kinds of reptiles. The zoo complex also has Botanical gardens with more than 200 species of trees, thousands of ornamental plants, orchids and snake farm.

How to reach

Thiruvananthapuram is the international airport and connects to major cities of India as well as outside India. Trivandrum Central railway station is well connected to major cities of India. The city has good road transport facilities to the cities.
